BOHAUS: architectural visualisation in Herzele, Belgium

BOHAUS makes renders, films and live models of buildings, interiors and gardens, and small AI workflows for design studios. The tour on this page goes from a single render into the workflows that made it. Here it is as text.

01 Visualise

Form first, then atmosphere.

Model: The clay pass settles shape and light. Materials, planting and water go in, and the finished render becomes a film, generated from the same camera.

An empty room, inhabited.

Life: People are added with AI to the delivered render. The architecture stays as it was rendered.

Then the frame moves.

Motion: From the inhabited still to a short film, generated and cut in the studio.

Same room, another scheme.

Variants: A generated film moves between an earlier interior scheme and the delivered one, from one camera.

One facade, a whole campaign.

Story: From a single render: lifestyle frames and a moving shot, generated with AI and selected by hand.

Every render can move.

Films: Three finished renders from three projects, each turned into a ten-second film with AI: someone in the room, a swan on the pond, a day turning to evening.

The same garden, after dark.

Night: Schultink, a garden by Ken Tuinarchitectuur. One model, one camera: the day render and the night render. Flip the switch.

Four frames a render, in one batch.

Variations: 14 grids from the Nys renders, run through Factory, about 35 seconds each. Camera angles are interpretations, checked before use.

From web size to print size.

Upscale: Local AI on the studio’s own machine: 800 × 1200 in, 2731 × 4096 out, in 50 seconds. New grain is generated detail, not recovered fact.

02 Understand

Floor plans become a building.

Build: The Koksijde permit plans, read line by line and stacked at their levels. When it stands, drag it to turn it.

The same building after dark.

By night: A lighting study on the model from the plans. The lamps are drawn nowhere and placed by us; the car is on the plans, its way in is staged.

A plan you can walk around.

Maquette: A garden of our own, as a live maquette in ink and watercolour: drag it to turn, and set the season, the hour and the drawing on the card.

A walk through the garden.

Garden story: A garden by Tuinarchitectuur De Winne, told for its owners: five renders from the street to the living room, each view marked on the planting plan.

Then along the side path.

Garden story: The side-path render as a six-second generated film, moving forward along the path.

The seasons, before they happen.

Seasons: AI season concepts from one summer render, always shown as concepts.

A garden through the year.

The year: The entrance in autumn, winter and spring, as one generated film. A concept, like the stills.

What the picture knows.

Passes: Depth, surface direction and colour without light, estimated from one render by Marigold. Not measurements, but enough to light the room again.

Then the light is yours.

Relight: The three layers light the room again, live. Move the lamp through it; click to focus, like a lens. Kitchen or living room: flip the switch.

03 Automate

The repetitive part, automated.

Library: 1,936 of the studio’s renders, in the order they were made.

Sorted by what a model sees.

Index: The same renders, placed by CLIP: facades to the left, interiors to the right, apartment blocks below. No tag typed by hand.

From images to a presentation.

Factory: Factory reads the client’s brand and writes the story for 21 images; the 22 pages are set in the studio’s layout, every picture whole. A draft until it is approved.
